IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Currently in the summer of 2023 we have 31 Primary Schools in the HSSP area signed up to some of our HSSP school sport services for 2022-2023. For further details on the menu of packages and services available to Primary Schools delivered by our School Sports Co-ordinators (specialist P.E. Teachers working as SSCo’s for Primary Schools). Please see: HSSP Menu of School Sport Services for Primary Schools 23-24. We have developed these school sport services after working closely with Primary Schools for several years and after consulting with P.E. Co-ordinators through a recent online survey asking for feedback and ideas for the future. As well as these services, we can accommodate bespoke school sport packages after discussions with individual Primary Schools. We also help co-ordinate a HSSP CPD annual programme of Primary P.E. workshops and organise a calendar of School Sports Festivals and Competitions with ‘Me’ outcomes/themes to target certain suitable pupils to attend. Here are our Kent School Games themes.

Dept. for Education continue to fund Primary School P.E. Premium (ring-fenced) 2023-2025

    FORTHCOMING SCHOOL SPORTS EVENTS

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The School Games, which is funded by Sport England National Lottery funding and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, is a government led programme, inspiring young people to be physically active for life through positive experiences of daily activity and competition.

Kent and Medway. SGOs are funded by the Department of Health and Social Care and the National Lottery through Sport England to deliver the School Games programme for three days a week. Outside of this, many SGOs also work as teachers, within School Sport Partnerships or in other roles in sport and schools.

The School Games in Kent and Medway is evolving to engage those most affected by inequalities and to support the positioning of physical activity across our network of schools. There will be a greater focus on targeted provision and the Active 60 Minute Agenda which aspires to reduce sedentary behaviour and increase physical activity for at least 60 minutes every day as recommended by the UK Chief Medical Officers.

    How are we doing this?

We are taking an approach to support the wider development of children and young people through identifying what skills and attributes need developing:

Physical ME – Developing physical literacy and movements of the body
Aimed at pupils who lack movement competence and who need to develop their physical skills.

Social Me – Developing Teamwork, cooperation and leadership
Aimed at pupils who find it difficult to connect with group tasks and work with others.

Thinking ME – Making effective decisions and evaluations
Aimed at pupils who need to develop their cognitive skills and the knowledge to identify what need to do to improve.

Healthy ME – Choosing healthy behaviours and attitudes
Aimed at pupils who have been negatively impacted by COVID. Those who are unable to sustain physical activity for a period of time.

Competitive Me – Competing to achieve personal best
Aimed at pupils who are competent and have, or will have, the opportunity to develop, practise and challenge sport specific skills.

For further information contact the Howard SSP SGO.

    Thank you for your co-operation.
